The company was founded in 1979 by Leo Arcand and was named Superior Blasting Mats. Superior Blasting Mats sold controlling shares and dissolved in 1984. In 1987, Denis Arcand (son of Leo Arcand) formed a new company called A1 Blasting Mats. In the early days, the company would produce 1 mat in a 10 hour work day. Today, the company now produces 5 to 6 mats in an 8 hour work day. Our objective is 8 mats per day. Member of the Ontario Tire Stewardship (OTS). Long standing employer in the local community.
