AB Sciex LP, Division of MDS Inc.

SCIEX was incorporated in 1974 by a group from the University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies. In 1981 SCIEX was acquired by MDS Health Group Limited.

The key to SCIEX's success has been the innovative approach that it has taken to the development of instrumentation. In every product line, SCIEX has been the pioneer with the introduction of the first commercial mobile laboratories, triple quadruple mass spectrometers, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers, contraband detection systems, and electrospray based mass spectrometers. Many of these products are in the second and third generation stages.

The development of innovative products which meet the needs of niche markets have been critical to company's success. SCIEX has twice been awarded the Canada Award for Business Excellence, once in the category of spectrometry and secondly in the category of Innovation for the development of the API III system. SCIEX frequently works in partnership with our clients to develop new solutions to client problems. Joint venture partnerships have been a key component of the strategy to market products world wide, notably with Applied Biosystems Inc. and PerkinElmer Inc.
