The North American House Hippo is a mythical creature believed to inhabit Canadian households, primarily in the True North region. These small creatures, about the size of a hamster, are nocturnal and create nests in bedroom closets using various materials like lost mittens and dryer lint. They are shy and elusive, venturing out at night to search for food, with a preference for chips, raisins, and crumbs from peanut butter on toast. While not real, the House Hippo was featured in a beloved 90s Canadian commercial encouraging children to question what they see on TV.
